Job Summary
A junior officer is responsible for the safety, management, and supervision of a maritime vessel. The role requires personnel to follow all maritime regulations and operate and maintain the ship's systems on a daily basis.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the vessel within the framework of local and international maritime law
- Communicate with senior officers, crew, and other stakeholders to coordinate operations
- Supervise and participate in safety drills and prepare reports as needed
- Observe and monitor the performance of the vessel's equipment and machinery
- Carry out emergency procedures as required
Qualifications
- Previous experience in the maritime industry preferred
- Knowledge of safe vessel navigation and operation
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a team environment
- Good communication and organizational skills
Physical Requirements
- Be able to stand and walk for long periods of time in an outdoor environment
- Lift and carry heavy objects
- Work in cramped and confined spaces
- Work in extreme weather conditions
