Rank: 3 Stripes Officer Department: Medical/Deck Size of Department: 2-5 Handover: >72hours Work/Duty: 7 days/week, 8-12h/day - split shifts AM/PM clinics hours Leave notice: 2 weeks Contract length: 4+/-1 months on 2+/-1 months off Reports to: Master/Staff Captain Cabin: Single
Main function: Provide excellent healthcare and health promotion to all crew and support the provision of healthcare to passengers.
Participate 24/7 in all emergencies together with the medical team
Support the Staff Captain and delegate tasks to the shipboard medical personnel in all health- related matters at sea, including illness reporting and outbreak prevention.
To be familiar with the ships standard on board procedures (SOP) and not limited to: Outbreak control plan for Covid19, Influenza and GII.
Responsible to organize periodical training for all crew with regards to First aid.
Profile:
- Good command of written and spoken English
- Medical Degree from a recognized College or University is required
- Good command of written and spoken English
- Active, current medical license of good standing in Country or State/Province of origin is required.
- To own a Medical Specialty diploma is mandatory in at least one of the Following: Emergency Medicine, Anesthesiology, General Practice, Internal Medicine, General Surgery,
- To be certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) within one year of application,
- At least four years experience in the medical field in both practical and management positions (ie) GP or A&E
- Computer literate: Windows System Operation, Word, Excel, MS Outlook, company/on-board apps
- Should have the ability to communicate with all levels of personnel and passengers
- A self-starter, reliable, able to work unsupervised, work in a stressful environment and show flexibility to work in each department.
