Job Description

Job Summary: The Chief Officer is responsible for safely navigating a ship and overseeing its crew in compliance with maritime law. They will manage the deck department and coordinate operations and schedules with other departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of passengers and crew members
  • Organize the crew and assign duties/responsibilities
  • Oversee and maintain the ship's navigation, communication, and safety systems
  • Prepare shipping documents, navigate ships, and monitor communications
  • Monitor cargo operations, repair maintenance, and general cleanliness of the ship
  • Perform duties in accordance with company policies and applicable legislation

Qualifications

  • Certified as Chief Officer according to international conventions
  • At least 5 years of experience in maritime operations
  • Excellent knowledge of safety protocols, navigation systems, and communication processes
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to anticipate potential problems
  • Proficiency in English with excellent communication skills

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments and handle multiple tasks
  • Extended periods of standing and working on deck in all weather conditions
  • Able to lift heavy objects
